Camels Will Meet Williams Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) buried 16 kills and Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) dished out 34 assists to lead the Connecticut College volleyball team (22-5) to a 3-0 victory against Trinity College (13-10) in the first round of the 2009 NESCAC Volleyball Championship at Cousens Gymnasium Friday.
It took just 70 minutes for the Camels to eliminate the Bantams. Game scores were 25-19, 25-20 and 25-18.
Connecticut College will meet second seeded Williams College Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the semifinal round. The Camels will be looking for redemption against the Ephs, who were the only visiting opponent to win a match against Connecticut College on its home court at Luce Fieldhouse this fall.
Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) registered a .380 hitting percentage with eight kills and four aces in Friday night´s win. Chelsea Manning (Cockeysville, Md.) chipped in with seven kills and four blocks.
The Camels have advanced into the semifinal round for the third time in the past four years. Amherst College and top seeded Tufts University will meet in the first semifinal at 1:00 p.m.
