Bacon-Wilsterman Lead #19 Camels to Eighth Place Finish in 20 Team Field at Rhode Island State Championship
NEWPORT, R.I.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team competed at the Rhode Island State Championship Regatta in Newport, R.I. this weekend. The Camels, who have climbed all the way up to #19 in the latest Sailing World Magazine poll, placed eighth in the 20 team field with a score of 194 points.
The Salve Regina University Seahawks captured the crown in their home water with a winning score of 107 points. Dartmouth College placed second with 137 points. Tufts University was third with a score of 161 points.
The Camels scored 130 points en route to a 12th place finish in the A Division. Mike Marshall (Jamestown, R.I.), Alex Olt (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), Marina Gluckman (New York, N.Y.) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y.) contributed for the Camels in A Division racing.
In the B division, Wells Bacon (Mount Desert, Maine) and Elizabeth Wilsterman (Winchester, Mass.) rallied the Camels in a third place finish with a score of 64 points.
