NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior forward Abby Hine of Madison, Conn. has been honored as a First Team selection on the 2009 All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) squad. Hine put together another terrific season for the Camels, leading the team in all three major offensive categories with nine goals, six assists and 24 points. She vaulted her way into fifth place on the program´s all-time scoring list with 27 goals, 16 assists and 70 points. Hine accounted for the game-winning goal in a 2-1 triumph against 16th ranked Amherst College Sept. 26. She was named NESCAC Player of the Week for the second time in her career on the following Monday the 28th. "Abby really stepped up as a leader for us this season," Connecticut College head coach Debbie Lavigne said. "This is a tremendous achievement for her and a credit to the hard work of the whole team" Hine tallied 10 goals, four assist and 24 points in her sophomore season with the Camels. She was honored as a second team All-NESCAC selection and was tabbed to the second team of the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-New England team. In her rookie season, Hine contributed eight goals, six assists and 22 points and was recognized as the teams´ most valuable forward. In addition to her success on the turf, Hine has contributed to the Camel women´s ice hockey program, scoring eight goals with three assists in 47 games. In the classroom, Hine has distinguished herself as a Dean´s List Student majoring in Human Development. Hine is a 2007 graduate of the Taft School in Watertown, Conn. She received letters in field hockey, ice hockey and lacrosse as a Rhino. Hine garnered All-New England honors while serving as a team captain for the field hockey squad that reached the semi-finals in their post-season championship tournament.
