Prophet, Brown Garner All-NESCAC Honors for Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College junior forward Trevor Prophet of Nashua, N.H. and sophomore midfielder Oscar Brown of Ridgefield, Conn. have been named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men´s Soccer Team. Prophet landed on the first team for the second consecutive year while Brown nabbed second team honors in his inaugural appearance on the squad.
Prophet and Brown played an integral role in a memorable season for the improved Connecticut College soccer team. Under the direction of first year head coach Kenny Murphy, the Camels posted their first winning mark in more than a decade with a record of 8-6-1 and were 5-4 in conference play.
"Trevor and Oscar executed for us all season long," Murphy said. "We are fortunate to have conscientious and committed student-athletes like these two gentlemen who represent our program in a positive light both on and off the field."
Prophet finished second in the NESCAC with eight goals scored and was tied for fourth place in the league with 1.20 points per game. He netted the game-winning goal in the second overtime against Bowdoin Oct. 3, lifting the Camels to one of their biggest conference wins in program history.
Prophet has displayed his versatility as a prominent contributor and captain on the tennis courts for the Camels, competing between #1 and #2 singles. Off the field, Prophet serves in a leadership capacity as the president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Prophet has excelled academically as a Dean´s List Student in his academic majors of economics and International Relations.
Brown tallied two goals, four assists and eight points this fall. He put the Camels on top for good with a critical first half goal in a 4-1 victory against second ranked Amherst College Sept. 26. Brown provided the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory versus Colby on the 24th of October.
Brown was honored as the program´s Rookie of the Year at the conclusion of the 2008 season. He has been recognized by the College for his academic excellence as a Dean´s List student.
