Holak Posts Double-Double with 18 Points & Career-High 13 Rebounds
DUDLEY, Mass.--Rita Holak (Windham, N.H.) netted 18 points and hauled in a career-high 13 rebounds but it was not enough as Nichols College (2-2) withstood a second half scare and held on for an 80-73 win against visiting Connecticut College (1-2) Tuesday.
Junior guard Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) exploded with a career-high 31 points for the Bison while classmate Jessica Nelson (North Providence, R.I.) netted a career-high with 23 points for the hosts.
Nelson converted a three-point play with 2:06 remaining that vaulted the Bison out to a comfortable 71-60 lead. But the Camels went on a furious 10-to-1 run to pull to with two, 72-70, with 33 seconds remaining. Holak converted a pair of field goals in the post that sparked the Camels in their comeback and Jacqueline Shinall (Redding Ridge, Conn.) drove the baseline for two of her 12 points to cap the rally.
However, the Bison were able to convert six consecutive free throws in the closing moments to hold off the Camels in the 80-73 victory.
Sophomore Jenn Shinall (Redding Ridge, Conn.) netted 15 of her 21 points in the second half of action. Freshman Kacie Quick (Winchester, Mass.) tallied 10 points with six rebounds and was 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. Kim Horne (Newport, N.H.) pulled down five rebounds and played an integral role in the Camels´ second half rally.
Connecticut College will host Western Connecticut State University Tuesday, Dec. 1 for a 7 p.m. game at Luce Fieldhouse.
