NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College sophomore swimmer Tim Walsh of Lincoln Park, N.J. has been honored as the New England Small College Athletic Conference(NESCAC) men´s Performer of the Week.
In a tri-meet with Middlebury and Tufts Saturday, Walsh won the 100 and 200 yard backstroke events for the Camels in 52.07 and 1:57.49, respectively, and was also the leadoff man for the 200 yard medley and freestyle relays. His leg of 21.63 in the freestyle relay helped the Camels take first in that event. The Camels defeated the Middlebury Panthers 156-115.
Walsh enjoyed a memorable rookie season with the Camels. He capped off his freshman year with All-American performances in the 100 yard backstroke as well as the 200 yard freestyle relay. Walsh garnered Honorable Mention All-America honors in both the 200 and 400 yard medley relay events.
The Camels finished 16th at the NCAA Division III Championship and placed fourth at the NESCAC Championship in the program´s best season of swimming.
Walsh is majoring in computer science at the College. He is a 2008 graduate of Boonton High School.
The Camels will return to action Sat. Dec. 5 for a 1:00 p.m. meet against the Coast Guard at Lott Natatorium.
