Walsh Wins Three Events for Camel Men at Williams
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.--The Connecticut College swimming and diving teams traveled to Western Massachusetts Saturday for a dual meet against Williams College. The men were defeated by a count of 211-to-118 while the women dropped a 227-102 decision to the Ephs.
Connecticut College junior All-America Sarah Murphy (Williamsburg, Va.) provisionally qualified for the 2010 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championship in the 400 yard individual medley. Sophomore All-America Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) earned three wins for the Camels in the men´s action.
Murphy posted a time of 4:38.01 in her victory in the 400 yard individual medley. In the 100 yard freestyle, Murphy notched a second victory for the Camels with a time of 54.58 seconds.
Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.), the reigning NESCAC women´s performer of the week, enjoyed another productive day of competition for the Camels. Karlson notched victories in the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke with respective times of 31.37 seconds and 1:08.26.
In the men´s action, Walsh posted times of 25.04 seconds, 52.13 seconds and 1:57.12 en route to his wins in the 50, 100 and 200 yard backstroke. Senior All-America Pat Troy (Bradford, N.H.) triumphed in both the 50 and 100 yard butterfly events with times of 23.44 and 51.18 seconds for the Camels.
In the 200 yard free relay, the Camel foursome of Pat Troy, Tim Walsh, Austin Meszaros (Morristown, N.J.) and Grant Moryan (Westfield, N.J.) logged a winning time of 1:25.54.
The Camels will return to action Jan. 7 when they take on Grinnell College in Naples, Fla.
