NEW LONDON, Conn. --The Connecticut College men´s cross country team wrapped up its 2009 season with a team dinner and award ceremony. Head coach Jim Butler announced the team awards and saluted the Camels for their success in the classroom and on the cross country trails.
Sophomore Doug Wright (Darien, Conn.) was honored as the team´s most valuable runner. Wright finished 26th at the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championship and was the team´s top finisher for most of the fall season. The unsung hero award was presented to junior Shawn Mulcahy (Lebanon, Conn.), who placed 47th in the New England Division III Championship Nov. 14.
Sophomore Brenner Green (Lisbon, Conn.) and junior Brett Herrick (Boxborough, Mass.) were honored as the most improved runners on the squad. The rookie of the year was Tim Murtagh (Rowley, Mass.). In addition to the team awards, the Camels celebrated the academic achievement of David Aigler (Medfield, Mass.) and Herrick, who were both named to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team.
Aigler represented the Camels on the NESCAC All-Sportsmanship team.
