People of all ages are invited to enjoy star gazing and more at Connecticut College Oct. 24

NEW LONDON, Conn. - Connecticut College is celebrating the International Year of Astronomy with a Fall Star Party featuring telescopic star and planet viewing and activities for people of all ages, Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the Olin Observatory, Olin Science Center. The Star Party is free and open to the public. The event will take place regardless of the weather, however star gazing may be limited in the event of inclement weather.

The event will feature fall and winter constellation planetarium shows by the Children´s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut and hands-on astronomy activities for children. At 7 and 8 p.m., R.M. Maxwell of the Mystic Seaport´s Treworgy Planetarium will give a talk, "Celestial Navigation for Beginners."

The 2009 Fall Star Party is hosted by the Children´s Museum of Southeastern Connecticut, the Treworgy Planetarium at the Mystic Seaport, the Thames Amateur Astronomical Society and the Connecticut College Department of Physics, Astronomy and Geophysics.
