MEDFORD, Mass.--The Connecticut College coed sailing team competed in the Professor Steadman Hood Trophy Regatta on Mystic Lake this weekend. The Camels placed 11th in the competitive 20 team field with a score of 275 points. Harvard University won the regatta with a score of 141 points. Tufts University placed second with 173 points and Yale University was third with a 176 points. Senior skipper Wells Bacon and junior Marina Gluckman scored 153 points en route to an 11th place showing in the A Division. In the B division, rookie skipper Kevin Martland and senior crew Katrina Salk made a strong push for the Camels in an impressive ninth place showing with a total of 122 points. The Camels also competed in the New England Sloop Championship at the Coast Guard. Connecticut College placed fourth in the eight team field, winning six out of 13 races for the weekend. It was a double round-robin format. The Camels were in contention to the very end. Boston College and Brown University earned berths to sloop nationals. Roger Williams edged out the Camels in a tie-breaker for third place.
