All In: The Camels are Playing Their Best Ball as They Head into the Final Weekend of the Regular Season
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team defeated the Coast Guard and Endicott College in two critical regional match-ups played at the Coast Guard Academy Saturday. In the early match up, the Camels snapped a Coast Guard 12-match winning streak with a 3-1 victory. The game scores were 25-20, 18-25, 26-24 and 25-22. Later on in the day, the Camels grounded the Endicott Gulls 25-21, 28-26 and 25-20. The Camels (16-6) entered the day as the sixth ranked team in New England. The Coast Guard was fifth in New England and Endicott was ranked #15 in the region. Junior outside hitter Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted a double-double with 22 kills, 11 digs and a pair of aces to lead the Camels past the Bears in the early match. Sophomore Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) registered 10 kills, 20 digs and a pair of blocks for the winning side. Senior setter Marissa DeMais (Hillsdale, N.J.) distributed 45 assists to go along with nine digs and two blocks. Newman buried 15 kills with eight digs and three blocks in the Endicott win. Senior Molly Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) chipped in with seven kills and five blocks for the Camels. DeMais dished out 40 assists for the winning side. -CC-
