Mags to Riches: Maghenzani Scores Twice in Second Half for Camels
WATERVILLE, Maine --Nick Maghenzani (Allendale, N.J.) netted a pair of second half goals to lead the Connecticut College men´s soccer team to a critical 2-0 NESCAC victory against Colby College on a blustery Saturday in Waterville, Maine.
The Camels improve to 5-6-1 with a 2-5-1 record in NESCAC action. The Mules even their mark at 6-6 and are 3-5 in league play.
Maghenzani put the Camels on the board in the 60th minute of action. Oscar Brown (Ridgefield, Conn.) induced a turnover about 30 yards from the goal and dribbled in to the right side of the keeper. Brown drew in a Colby defender and played the ball to Maghenzani on the left side for a 10 yard chip that found the back of the net.
Later on in the half, the Camels added some insurance. With a strong wind behind him, Brown launched a corner kick from the left side of the goal. Trevor Prophet (Nashua, N.H.) controlled it to Maghenzani, who capped off his career day with the goal.
Rookie net-minder Casey Marini (Hampden, Mass.) stopped three shots for the Camels en route to his fourth shutout of the season.
Ben Joslin (Chicago, Ill.) made four saves for the Mules.
