LeDuc, Wright Garner All-NESCAC Honors for Connecticut College

NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College freshman Mike LeDuc of Canton, Conn. and junior Doug Wright of Darien, Conn. have been named to the All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Men´s Cross Country Team. LeDuc posted a time of 26:23 on the 8k course in Clinton, N.Y. Saturday to finish fifth in the field of 127 runners, earning a spot on the first team. He was also honored as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year for being the first freshman to complete the course. Wright garnered second team honors for the Camels, placing 13th with a time of 26:43. In the spring of 2009, Wright earned All-NESCAC accolades in the 5,000 meters for the track and field team. A junior co-captain enrolled as a history major at the College, Wright has been honored for his academic excellence in the classroom as a Dean´s List student. Senior co-captain Shawn Mulcahy (Lebanon, Conn.), a 2008 All-NESCAC performer in cross country and track and field, posted a time of 27:08 in a strong 30th place finish for the Camels. Connecticut College Head Cross Country Coach and Assistant Head Coach of Track & Field Jim Butler was pleased with the team´s performance and is looking forward to the upcoming New England Division III Championship. "All three guys ran a heck of a race Saturday," Butler said. "Mike and Doug ran a long way together and Shawn was able to come on late in the race for us. Mike´s rookie of the year finish was just fantastic to watch as he ran with some of the best guys in the country. We´re very pleased to have two All-NESCAC finishers in such a tough conference and we look forward to these three guys leading us at the New England Division III Championship." The New England Division III Championship will take place Saturday, Nov. 13 in Williamstown, Mass. The race will get underway at 11:00 a.m.
