Beers Finishes in 63rd Place at ECAC Championship for Camels
BRISTOL, R.I.--Connecticut College sophomore Katie Beers (Fayetteville, N.Y.) posted a time of 25 minutes flat to finish in 63rd place at the 6k Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Women´s Cross Country Championship that was held at Colt State Park in Bristol, R.I. Saturday.
The Camels placed 17th in the field of 39 scoring teams with 519 points. Four of the top five finishers represented Middlebury College, who won the ECAC crown in convincing fashion with a score of 21 points. Williams College placed second with 72 points, edging out their NESCAC rival Amherst, who grabbed hold of third place with 73 points.
Sophomore Michelle Wesley (Millwood, N.Y.) contributed for the Camels with an 80th place finish in a time of 25:25. Freshman Sarah Huckins (Henniker, N.H.) posted a time of 26:12 to finish in 116th place. Maura Hallisey (Wethersfield, Conn.) was the 130th runner to complete the course with a time of 26:34.
Sophomore Molly Pistrang (Princeton, Mass.) registered a time of 26:45 as the 142nd finisher. Julianne Fowler (Guilford, Conn.) completed the course in 27:04 to place 155th in the field. Senior Dana Silverberg (Huntington, N.Y.) finished in 177th place with a time of 27:42 for Connecticut College.
The Camels will now turn their attention to the New England Division III Championship. The race will be held next Saturday in Williamstown, Mass.
