Gabelman Tallies 11 Points & Seven Boards for Camels
WALTHAM, Mass.--The Brandeis University women´s basketball team defeated Connecticut College 68-36 in the first round of the 2010 Brandeis Women's Basketball Judges Classic.
The Judges improve their record to 2-1 with the victory and will meet Rhode Island College Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. The Camels (0-1) will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. against Springfield College in the third place game.
Morgan Kendrew (Cotuit, Mass.) netted a team-high 11 points to lead the Judges in the victory. Janelle Rodriguez (Peabody, Mass.) chipped in with nine points, six rebounds and four steals.
Connecticut College freshman Tara Gabelman (Irvington, N.Y.) tallied 11 points and seven rebounds for the visitors in an impressive collegiate debut. Junior Jenn Shinall (Redding, Conn.) netted a game-high 12 points for the Camels to go with five rebounds and three steals.
The Camels out-rebounded Brandeis 37-to-34 in the contest and will look to continue to win the battle on the backboards Sunday afternoon.
