Camels Place Second at Wesleyan Invitational
Mulcahy Wins Race as Unattached Runner
MIDDLETOWN, Conn.-The Connecticut College men's cross country team made a short trip to compete in the Wesleyan University Invitational Saturday.
Head Coach Jim Butler, who is celebrating his 25th season with the program, rested his top seven this runners this week.
Connecticut College assistant men's cross country coach Shawn Mulcahy, a 2011 graduate of Connecticut College from Lebanon, Conn. was the unattached winner of the invitational with a time of 27:39 on the 8k course.
The Camels placed second in the seven team field with a score of 66 points. The host Cardinals placed the top six collegiate runners in the field to win the invitational with a score of 15 points.
Freshman Patrick Dermody (Erieville, N.Y.) was the top Camel finisher in 10th place with a time of 28:51. Billy Barnes (New York, N.Y.) placed 14th in 29:23. Aaron Davis (New London, Conn.) posted a time of 29:25 to finish 15th.
Senior Colin Gallant (Ashford, Conn.) checked in with a time of 29:51 en route to an 18th place finish. Matt Boudreau (Bridgewater, Mass.) was 25th with a time of 30:36. Dan Post (Pepper Pike, Ohio) placed 32nd in the field with a time of 31:26 and Billy Martinsky (Monroe, Conn.) was 34th in 31:42.
