#2 Bowdoin College 4, Connecticut College 1 Fitzgerald Scores Eighth Goal of Season for Camels

NEW LONDON, Conn.-Cathleen Smith (Larchmont, N.Y.) scored a pair of first half goals to lead the second ranked Bowdoin College field hockey team to a 4-1 victory at Connecticut College Saturday. The defending NCAA Division III Champions improve to 6-0 with a 4-0 mark in the NESCAC. The Camels drop to 4-3 with a 1-3 record in the league. Katie Herter (Topsfield, Mass.) chipped in with three assists for the winning side. Elizabeth Clegg (Hudson, Ohio) and Katie Riley (Hingham, Mass.) chipped in with scores for the Polar Bears. Junior net-minder Kayla Lessard (Enfield, Conn.) made five saves in the victory. Connecticut College junior Brittany Fitzgerald (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored her team-leading eighth goal of the season for the hosts. Emily Scribner (White River Jct., Vt.) and Liz Rosenfeld (Leola, Pa.) assisted on the goal. Connecticut College rookie net-minder Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) finished with 14 saves in the contest. Bowdoin will visit Maine-Farmington this Tuesday for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game. Connecticut College will visit Middlebury College tomorrow afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. game in the Green Mountain State.
