Hancock Named to Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for Connecticut College
NEW LONDON, Conn.--Connecticut College senior defender Isaac Hancock of Gettysburg, Pa. has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Men's Soccer Team in Division III as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Hancock was a captain of the Camel defense and played every minute of every game at center back for Coach Kenny Murphy's squad but that did not deter him from maintaining an impressive 3.75 grade point average in the classroom. As a first team selection in the district, Hancock will advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration.
Hancock's leadership was instrumental to the team's success as the Camels finished the season with a record of 9-5-1 and a 5-4-1 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, their second overall and conference winning record in the past three years.
"Isaac was the glue to our defense," Connecticut College Head Men's Soccer Coach Kenny Murphy said. "He is an exceptional student, a very good player and a quality individual who cares about all of his teammates. We will miss his presence and leadership on and off the field."
Connecticut College allowed only 1.8 shots on goal per game to lead the conference and ranked second in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with 9.73 shots allowed per contest.
Hancock has been named to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team in each of the past two seasons and is a Dean's Honors student at the College. He will receive his degree in sociology and American Studies in May of 2012.
