Veronesi Tallies Fourth Goal of Season for Camels
NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Williams College men's hockey team scored three goals in a five minute span of the second period and went on to defeat Connecticut College 4-1 in a NESCAC game played at Dayton Arena Saturday.
The Ephs improve their record to 4-0-2 with a 3-0-1 mark in conference play, while the Camels fall to 1-4 with a 1-3 record in the NESCAC.
Junior forward Evan Dugdale (Glastonbury, Conn.) had a goal and an assist to lead the visitors. Mike Broft (Spring City, Pa.), Matt Doyle (Glen Rock, N.J.) and Nick Anderson (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) added single tallies for the Ephs.
Connecticut College sophomore Keith Veronesi (South Glastonbury, Conn.) potted his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the second period. Senior Sean Curran (Wilmette, Ill.) and sophomore Kevin Reich (Montvale, N.J.) assisted on the power play marker.
Senior Ryan Purdy (La Jolla, Calif.) made 21 saves in the win for Williams. Connecticut College sophomore Mike Petchonka (Ridgefield, Conn.) finished with 21 stops in the contest for the hosts.
Williams held a slim 25-to-22 edge in shots but the visitors were able to convert on two of six power play chances.
The Ephs will visit Amherst College Friday night for a 7:00 p.m. NESCAC contest. The Camels will host the Manhattanville College Valiants this Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. non-conference tilt at Dayton Arena.
