Huelbig Posts Three Wins to Lead Camel Women to Victory
Fabian Sets School Record in Mile for Camel Men
NEW LONDON, Conn. --The Connecticut College men's and women's swimming and diving teams hosted the Coast Guard in an annual meeting of route 32 rivals.
The women earned a 194-102 victory against the Bears, while the men dropped a close 159-132 decision to the Coast Guard.
Sophomore Ellie Huelbig (Rutherford, N.J.) paved the way to the Camel victory, posting three wins for the hosts. Huelbig won the 100 and 200 yard butterfly with respective times of 1:02.18 and 2:13.42. She added a third win in the 400 yard individual medley with a time of 4:53.57.
Julia Pielock (Deerfield, Mass.) logged winning times of 24.86 and 55.05 seconds in the 50 and 100 yard freestyle for the Camels. Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.) posted victories in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke with times of 1:08.21 and 2:30.24.
Sophomore Rachel Bohn (Trumbull, Conn.) secured victories in both the 100 and 200 yard backstroke, posting times of 1:01.94 and 2:14.63. Nicole Sears (Bronxville, N.Y.) won the mile and the 500 yard freestyle with times of 18:38.50 and 5:30.33.
In the 200 yard freestyle, Esther Mehesz (Wethersfield, Conn.) posted a winning time of 2:01.16.
In the 400 yard medley relay, the Camel foursome comprised of Rachel Bohn, Katie Karlson, Nysa Casha (Andover, Mass.) and Julia Pielock posted a winning time of 4:06.99.
In the men's action, Max Fabian(Keene, N.H.) had a huge day. Fabian set a school record in the mile, posting a time of 16:14.58. Fabian added victories in the 400 yard individual medley (4:17.09) and the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:50.41.
Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) had another big day for the Camels, posting wins in the 50 yard free and the 100 yard butterfly with respective times of 21.60 and 52.47 second.
Senior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) earned victories in the 200 yard freestyle and 200 yard backstroke, posting respective times of 1:45.78 and 1:58.20 for Connecticut College.
In the 100 yard backstroke, Sean Paquette (Middletown, R.I.) triumphed for the Camels in a time of 54.48 seconds.
The Camel foursome comprised of Tim Walsh, Kirk Czelewicz (Lowell, Mass.), Sean Paquette and Sam Gill secured a victory in a time 3:35.05.
Both teams will return to action Saturday, Dec. 10 for a 1:00 p.m. dual meet at Williams College in Williamstown, Mass.
