Students hitting the books to prepare for final exams, which began today, were encouraged to take a study break last night and fuel up with an annual favorite: the moonlight breakfast.

More than 950 students attended the 10 p.m. - midnight event, sponsored by the Offices of Student Life, in partnership with Dining Services. Staff volunteers from several departments served pancakes, eggs, bacon, sweet potato puffs, mini danish and doughnuts.

Students also enjoyed a decorate-your-own cupcake bar, and a roving trivia team provided entertainment and handed out goody bags. Indeed, the entire event was designed to help students de-stress during the academically intense finals period.

"The 1972 Room was set up with crayons and coloring books - a relaxing, mindless activity students really seemed to love," said volunteer Barbara Nagy, director of advancement communications. "Sponge Bob was a big hit."

Sarah Kosofsky '12 demonstrated superior estimation skills by winning the 'guess the kisses' competition. Her guess of 1,435 Hershey's Kisses was only four off from the actual 1,431.

Students also had the opportunity to sign two steel beams that will be used in the construction of the new Science Center.
