Camels Take Three out of Five Conference Matches at Wheaton (Ill.)
WHEATON, Ill.--The Connecticut College women's water polo closed out their first weekend of conference play by taking three out of five matches at Wheaton College of Illinois.
In the final match of the weekend, the Camels buried the Bears of Penn State-Behrend in a 16-4 win.
Kate Jacobson (Collegeville, Pa.) paved the way to the victory, leading the Camels with four goals in the triumph. Nicky Jasbon (Greenacres, Fla.) and Emily Hunter (Cheshire, Conn.) both scored twice.
Kristin Lampley (Reading, Pa.), Lily Polatchek (Middleboro, Mass.), Katie Mullaley (Hingham, Mass.), Shelter Wein (Shelter Island, N.Y.), Maia Taft (Lexington, Mass.), Gracie Miller (Sudbury, Mass.), Megan Wright (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) and Karen Cardona (Chicago, Ill.) all contributed goals in the Camel victory.
Junior Pamela Lovejoy (Guilford, Conn.) made six saves in the cage.
Saturday afternoon, the Camels (3-6) routed Utica in a 27-10 triumph. Nicky Jasbon scored 10 goals and grabbed six steals to lead the Camels in the offensive uprising. Kate Jacobson chipped in with five scores. Emily Hunter, Katie Mullaley and Kristin Lampley all contributed with three scores.
Gracie Miller scored twice, while junior Megan Wright added a single tally for the winning side. Pamela Lovejoy made three saves in the cage.
The Camels also dropped a 6-5 decision to the host Thunder of Wheaton College. Lovejoy turned aside nine shots in the cage. Jasbon had three goals and eight steals in the loss. Lampley contributed with two scores and four steals while Jacobson recorded six steals and two assists for the Camels.
Friday night, the Camels split a pair of matches at Wheaton, topping Carthage College 8-7 before falling to Macalester in a 14-11 setback.
Pamela Lovejoy stopped nine saves in the cage to lead the Camels to the victory.
Emily Hunter had a hat-trick with three scores. Megan Wright scored twice for the winning side.
Junior Kristin Lampley, Mallory Kosow (Exeter, N.H.) and Nicky Jasbon all contributed scores in the victory for Connecticut College.
Lovejoy made nine stops in the loss to Macalester. Jacobson scored three goals and assisted on six others. Kristin Lampley scored three goals. Nicky Jasbon added two goals. Maia Taft, Mullaley and Kosow all contributed with markers for the Camels.
