Camels Prepare for NESCAC Semifinal Showdown at Tufts Saturday

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College men's lacrosse team (10-5) will carry a five-game winning streak into their noon-time showdown at Tufts University. The Camels are receiving votes in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) National Poll. Junior midfielder John Lyons (Barrington, R.I.) is ranked eighth in the NESCAC with 29 goals and 43 points. Junior Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) has chipped in with 21 goals and 13 assists for 34 points while JR Hartgers (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) has accounted for 32 points (16 goals, 16 assists). Tyler Corcoran (Simsbury, Conn.) and Hartgers are tied for eighth in the league with 16 assists each. Senior midfielder Chuck Czerkawski (Cohasset, Mass.) is 179-for-311 (.576, fourth in NESCAC) on face-offs and has amassed 107 ground balls to rank second in the league. Senior long stick midfielder Michael O'Donnell (Winchester, Mass.) continues to excel in riding and clearing and situations and ranks second on the squad with 39 ground balls. The starting defensive trio consisting of Clay Hillyer (South Windsor, Conn.-25 gbs), Brogan O'Connor (Haverhill, Mass.-20 gbs) and Mike Brennan (Chester Springs, Pa.-22) has been terrific. The Camels will face fifth ranked and top seeded Tufts University Saturday at noon.
