Connecticut College 3, Middlebury College 2 Martin (17 Kills, 21 Digs) Leads Camels Past Panthers

NEW LONDON, Conn.--The Connecticut College volleyball team took a 15-13 decision in the fifth and deciding game to hold off a talented Middlebury College squad in a 3-2 victory at Luce Field House Saturday. The Camels, ranked #3 in the region, improve their record to 6-1 with a 1-1 mark in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. The Panthers fall to 5-2 with a 1-1 record in the conference. The visiting Panthers took a 29-27 decision in game one. Connecticut College won the next two games with 25-23 and 25-18 scores but Middlebury forced a fifth and deciding game with a 25-19 triumph in game four. The Camels closed out the win in front of their home crowd with the 15-13 triumph. Caroline Martin (Palo Alto, Calif.) posted a double-double with 17 kills and 21 digs to lead the hosts to the win. Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) buried 11 kills while Anelise Hohl (Atherton, Calif.) added eight kills for the hosts. Senior libero Carly Guiducci (Del Mar, Calif.) finished with 22 digs to lead the defense. Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) added 43 assists in the win. Middlebury College junior Megan Jarchow (Cos Cob, Conn.) finished with a match-high 20 kills for the visitors. Junior right side Amy Hart (Kenilworth, Ill.) posted a double-double with 16 kills and 14 digs. Senior libero Caitlin Barrett (Medfield, Mass.) finished with 29 digs for the Panthers. Senior setter Julia Gibbs (Houston, Texas) chipped in with 29 assists and 16 digs for Middlebury College. -CC-
