Connecticut College Blanks Elms & Mount Holyoke Straubel Leads 9-1 Camels to Sweep with 14 Kills & Nine Digs

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.--The Connecticut College volleyball team notched a pair of shutout victories Saturday in a tri-match with Elms College and the host Lyons of Mount Holyoke College. The Camels, ranked #4 in New England, buried the Blazers of Elms College (0-12) in a 25-12, 25-8 and 25-14 triumph. Later on in the day, the Camels improved their record to 9-1, winning 25-12, 25-14, 25-14 against Mount Holyoke (2-5). Cailyn Straubel (Dallas, Tex.) buried 14 kills to go with nine digs in four games played for the Camels. Sophomore Melissa Kohl (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) chipped in with 12 kills in six games played. In four games played, Kaitlyn Cunningham (Ridgefield, Conn.) dished out 23 assists to go with a pair of kills and eight digs. Senior Rachel Schroff (Palos Verdes, Calif.) accounted for 32 assists, five digs, five blocks, three aces and two kills. Jamie Balkin (Glencoe, Ill.) was a defensive standout, finishing with 13 digs in four games for Head Coach Josh Edmed's squad.
