Napolitano Stops 11 Shots for Camels
Hartford, Conn. --(Trinity College Sports Information) Junior Sarah Duncan (Dedham, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist as the No. 15 Trinity College Bantams earned a 3-0 win over the Connecticut College Camels in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) action today at Robin Sheppard field. Trinity improves to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in the NESCAC, while the Camels drop to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the league with their first loss of the young season.
Trinity first-year goalie Anne Scalambrino (Chicago, Ill.) made three saves in the game and is credited with her second shutout in three games. Scalambrino and the Bantam defensive unit have been a force to start the year, having allowed just four goals in Trinity's five games.
In today's game, Duncan assisted first-year Olivia Tapsall (Old Greenwich, Conn.), who started the scoring midway through the first half with her third goal and seventh point this year. Trinity added insurance when senior co-captain Haley Thompson (Ipswich, Mass.) found Hadley Duncan (Ipswich, Mass.) wide open in front of the cage for a point blank shot, which gave the Bantams a 2-0 lead. Trinity further distanced themselves when Sarah Duncan scored in the early stages of the second half, giving the Bantams room to breathe, as they cruised to their fifth consecutive win.
Trinity outshot the Camels 19-8 in the game, including an 11-4 edge in the first half. Connecticut College sophomore goaltender Becca Napolitano (Hamden, Conn.) made 11 stops in net for the Camels.
