Bilodeau-Raymond Connect for Game-Winner
LEWISTON, Maine --(Bates College Sports Information) Grace Bilodeau scored on a cross from Rebecca Raymond with 3:26 left in the second overtime period, lifting Connecticut College to a 2-1 win over host Bates College in a NESCAC women's soccer game Saturday.
Bilodeau ran onto Raymond's cross and scored to complete the come-from-behind victory for the Camels (4-6-2, 2-6-0), their second conference win.
Connecticut College tied the game with 19:54 left in regulation time, when Astrid Kempainen knocked in a loose ball in a scramble in front of Bates' net.
Following a scoreless first half, Bates seized a 1-0 lead in the 53rd minute of the game. Sophomore forward Dakota Donovan (Marblehead, Mass.) passed the ball from the corner toward the near post, where senior captain Sam Rose (Toronto, Ontario) finished the play with a shot inside the far post, for Rose's second goal in as many games. Rose now shares the team lead in goals scored (2) and owns the team's points lead (5).
Junior goalkeeper Anabel Schmelz (Monmouth Beach, N.J.) made eight saves for Bates (3-7-1, 1-6-1 NESCAC), while Natalie Signor stopped five shots for the Camels, who outshot the Bobcats by a 14-11 margin. Connecticut College also had an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
