Gabelman is NESCAC Player of the Week

Forward Tara Gabelman ’14 has been named New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Gabelman averaged 12 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Connecticut College. She led the Camels to a 66-57 triumph at Middlebury on Friday, posting 12 points and 14 rebounds. She also scored 12 points in a 68-43 loss at Williams on Saturday.

“Tara had a tremendous statistical weekend against two talented opponents,” coach Brian Wilson said.  “She played a central role in our win against Middlebury on Friday night with 14 rebounds to go along with 12 points, a block and a steal in 32 minutes. Although we had a poor performance against Williams on Saturday, Tara was again extremely effective on the offensive end with 12 points on 5-9 shooting from the floor in only 24 minutes played.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as NESCAC Player of the Week in a league with so many talented players,” Wilson added.

Gabelman ranks third in the NESCAC with 8.1 rebounds per game and fifth in free throw percentage (.760), sixth in field goal percentage (.446), eighth in blocked shots (.87 bpg.) and 11th in scoring with 11.3 points per outing.
