Dear Connecticut College Parents:
We hope you had a memorable visit with your sons and daughters over
winter break. Students will start the spring
semester on Jan. 23 and will surely create more news in the months
ahead! Please enjoy the campus news and announcements below.
Camel kindness. CC alumni reach out to
support the family of Jorge and Liza Talusan-Vega, both members of the
Class of 1997, after their 2-year-old daughter is diagnosed with a rare
form of eye cancer.
100
candles. Cordelia Johnson ’28 celebrates
her 100th birthday. Do you know other alumni who have reached that milestone?
Check the label. Art professors Pamela
Marks and Tim McDowell design labels for a California winery. Their art
is featured in a new coffee table book.
In
the nude. The
members of the Connecticut College club soccer team bare it all — well,
almost — for a 2006 wall calendar.
Happening
on campus. Judge
Patricia McGowan Wald ’48, an expert in international humanitarian law,
and Jack Bogle P’80 ’94 GP’07, founder of Vanguard Group, will
be on campus in February to talk about their areas of expertise.
The whistle keeper. The Connecticut College
women’s soccer program has a new but familiar face at the helm.
Braving
the elements. Jennifer Lilly ’99,
a meteorologist and former CC sailor, aids competitors in a worldwide
race.
