Seniors, anonymous donor raise $34,000 for CC
Members of the Connecticut College Class of 2006 are about to leave a lasting mark on their alma mater. As a class, seniors raised more than $11,000 to benefit the College’s Annual Fund. An anonymous alumna has pledged to give an additional $2 for every $1 raised by the class, increasing the total donation to more than $34,000. The seniors will present a check to President Norman Fainstein at a special reception this Friday, May 19. The fundraising effort is part of the Senior Class Pledge Program, which was established by the Class of 1982 as a way for students to recognize their experience at CC. Students who give to the program also become members of the CC Horizon Society, which celebrates consecutive giving to the Annual Fund every year after graduation. The 2006 Senior Pledge Committee, co-chaired by Anne Bider, Bobby Brooks, Sam Gould and Ianthe Hensman, helped gain 40 percent participation from the senior class to date. Contributions to the Annual Fund support College programs not completely covered by tuition, like financial aid, student activities and faculty salaries.
