B.P. Learned Mission
The Mission is a multi-service agency with a focus on positive youth development. CC students provide individual tutoring while teaching arts and crafts, dance and chorus. In addition, they lead sports and recreation activities.
Big Brothers/Big Sisters
BB/BS works with youngsters from single parent homes. In this program CC students are mentors, friends, and positive role models. Matches spend three hours of one-to-one time each week and participate in group activities.
Centro de la Comunidad, Inc.
Centro both educates, and seeks better employment opportunities for, NL's Hispanic population. CC students assist with adult ESL classes, reception work, math/english tutoring, teach computer skills and are involved in the 2nd grade after-school program (2:30-4:30).
Children's Dance Center
The Lyman Allyn Center provides a wide range of dance and movement classes for children and youth. CC students assist in teaching classes and providing individual attention to the dancers.
Children's Museum of Southeastern CT
The Museum is an interactive, hands-on educational opportunity in art, science, safety & health fields for children. CC students act as program assistants as well as after-school teacher's aids and floor monitors. Students also help with arts and crafts sessions.
Coastline YMCA
The mission of this organization is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
Confident Kids Development Center
This agency provides homework assistants to children in an after-school classroom setting. CC students engage in one-on-one tutoring gaining experience in classroom management, working in a diverse environment, and working with at risk youth. (M-F 2:30-5)
Connecticut Pre-Engineering Program C-PEP
This program is a collaboration between The Science Center, the New London Public Schools, and Connecticut College. The goal is to engage middle school students of color in interactive science activities to encourage higher levels of science and math comprehension.
Drop-In Learning Center
The center provides a range of educational and recreational services to school age children and youth. CC students assist in teaching the after-school program, tutor, lead field trips, and complete art projects.
Girl Scouts, CT Trails Council
This organization provides programs for girls, ages 4-17. CC students work with girls on programs and activities including teaching / developing life skills, self-confidence and friendships. (SEE REQUEST SHEETS)
Jewish Family Service
This program provides a range of social and educational services. CC students assist with special events and with the elderly outreach program.
LEARN
This is a regional education cooperative providing services to public schools. CC students work in their after-school programs located at Harbor Elementary School in New London. They tutor, mentor, assist with group work, and lead sports programs.
Learn and Serve
The program provides both formal & on-site teacher training. Learn and Serve is responsible for acting as a link between partnership schools and the local community, and collects extensive information on community agencies, resources and challenges that students can undertake. Students learn & develop through active participation in thoughtfully organized service that is conducted in and meets the needs of a community.
Literacy Volunteers of Eastern CT
Creating community strength through English literacy and American culture, this organization offers ESL classes, tutoring, testing, referrals and conversation groups for ESL individuals.
Montville Youth Service Bureau
This youth and family service needs volunteers to assist with supervision of program participants, tutoring, mentoring and some program development. The opportunity is great for students interested in psychology, sociology, social work and education.
Multicultural Resource Center
The Center's library of multicultural books is a resource for area school districts. In addition, the Center organizes multicultural activities for school. CC students assist in the operation of the Center and with special activities.
New London Adult Education
The program provides a wide range of adult education including English as A Second Language, High School Equivalency classes, and alternative high school education. CC students assist in classrooms, teach, tutor, and organize special events.
New London Schools - Bennie Dover Jackson M.S.
This is New London's PUBLIC middle school. CC students act as teacher's aids during the school day.
New London Schools - Harbor
This is one of 6 PUBLIC elementary schools.
New London Schools - ISAAC
ISSAC (Interdistrict School for Arts & Communication) is a PUBLIC regional magnet school for middle school students. Conn students assist as classroom aids, help run the after-school program and teach science lessons.
New London Schools - Jennings
Jennings School is a public preK-5 school with a bi-lingual program (Spanish/English). During the school-day students are teacher's aids. During the after school program (VOYAGER) volunteers tutor.
New London Schools - N.L. High School
This is the only PUBLIC high school in New London.

The school is an elementary magnet school for children of New London and ten surrounding school districts. Conn. students teach in classrooms, act as teacher’s aids, tutor, and assist with special projects.

Office of Youth Affairs and RAD
This youth development agency is looking for 1-2 play troupe helpers, chaperones for fieldtrips and volunteers for the teens off the hook program. The agency also needs volunteers for the RAD program.
OVCS Program: ABC - Advocating Better Choices
ABC is an after-school program that focuses on homework completion, after school activities, mentoring, advocating healthy lifestyles, and the pursuit of higher education.
OVCS Program: America Reads Challenge Program
ARC is a national literacy program that promotes reading at grade level. Conn. students are matched with teachers at Edgerton elementary school. Volunteers assist as teacher aides, provide one-to-one tutoring, and teach small groups.
OVCS Program: Art Program
The Program is collaboration between Centro de la Comunidad and OVCS. Children visit the College campus for weekly art sessions to assist them in expressing their emotions and feelings in a non-violent and socially acceptable way through creative art.
OVCS Program: ESL (English as a Second Language)
CC students work with CC staff whose second language is English, and who wish to improve their English communication skills.
OVCS Program: KBA (Kids, Books, Athletics)
This OVCS program strives to better health with physical activity and augment literacy through reading. CC volunteers teach children simple exercises and then read books with them in small groups.
OVCS Program: My Brother
My Brother is a mentor program for boys from Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School. Male students from Connecticut College bring the boys to campus and engage them in a variety of educational and recreational group activities, including community service.
OVCS Program: SISTER
The program has Students Implementing Support Through Education and Recreation. Conn. women mentor female middle school students who complete educational & recreational activities, develop library skills, promote self-esteem, healthy choices and positive conflict resolution.
Salvation Army, The
SA is an international religious/charitable movement. Conn students work in programs serving children and youth. They teach arts & crafts, assist with homework, lead recreational activities, and assist with the preparation and serving of an evening meal.
Waterford Youth Services
Waterford Youth Services is a town department that provides positive development activities for youth. Conn. students run sports groups, assist with homework, teach crafts, and act as role models. Volunteers also help in planning and implementing course and after-school programs.
West Side Middle School
A school serving 6-8th graders by an experienced professional staff which is dedicated to providing an environment that is both nurturing and academically challenging.
