  • Return from summer vacation early for OVCS staff training.
  • Assist in the overall development and implementation of OVCS projects.
  • Set up and maintain a communication network with OVCS student staff.
  • Assist in the training, orientation and support of student coordinators and volunteers.
  • Assist in the planning and development of special community service events.
  • Serve as a liaison with the Student Government Assembly, house governors and Housefellows to promote community service in and among the residential houses, as well as to state and national higher education service networks.
  • Develop and implement strategies to develop a campus wide culture of community action and service learning as a programmer and as a spokesperson for community service.
  • Foster relationships between Connecticut College and the local community.
  • Collaborate with community partners to design service placements that advance student development while meeting identified community needs.
  • Provide a forum for student leadership development including developing student voice and opportunities to develop management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Match college students with community partners of all types together with OVCS staff throughout the year.
  • Support service placements through orientation, training, reflection and transportation.
  • Increase awareness of contemporary social challenges and stimulate creative campus wide or individual responses.
  • Assess community impact of programs.
  • Build Community among diverse people and fosters respect, understanding and enjoyment of diversity.
  • Facilitate integration of community action into the academic curriculum.
