S.I.S.T.E.R. Mentor Program Coordinator
- Organize and schedule events for the year, to be distributed
to parents and protégés (middle school girls)
at the beginning of each semester.
- Recruit potential mentors throughout the OVCS Volunteer
Fair, campus publications and active one-on-one recruiting.
- Inform mentors of the volunteer application process and
of their duties and responsibilities as a mentor
- Organize and implement tutor training sessions with the
OVCS Staff Program Director at the beginning of each semester,
as well as supplemental sessions throughout the year.
- Work with the Guidance director at Bennie Dover Jackson
Middle School to identify and recruit protégés
at the beginning of each academic year, and on an ongoing
basis to ensure that the program runs smoothly and meets
the needs of the protégés involved.
- Keep middle school personnel and mentors informed about
school closings, vacations and holidays.
- Schedule and facilitate monthly meetings with mentors
to clarify and enhance the design of the program, and discuss
relevant issues, concerns and ideas that may arise during
the mentoring period.
- Meet weekly with the OVCS Staff Program Director to discuss
programmatic and other relevant issues.
- Distribute evaluation forms to mentors at the end of
each semester for assessment purposes.
