Pete Baum
As an AmeriCorps*Vista Community Health / Environmental Education Coordinator, Pete joins OVCS with the determination to “strengthen the ties between New London and Connecticut College while helping to make the community a better place.” A member of the graduating Class of 2007 from Connecticut College, Pete was an active member of Society Organized Against Racism (SOAR), the House Environmental Reps, and the MY BROTHER student mentoring program at Conn. He views OVCS as a “catalyst for positive change at the local level.” It was this realization and his passion to “influence Connecticut College students to become true citizens of the community” that brought him to OVCS.
A native of Manlius, NY, Pete graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Behavioral Neuroscience; in his coursework he also focused on Latin American culture and Spanish language in addition to being a pre-med student. He is an activist for social justice who likes to hike, bike, ski, camp and do anything that involves the outdoors.
