OVCS Staff

Rebecca McCue

Since her arrival at OVCS in January 2000, Rebecca McCue has worked hard to facilitate a reciprocal relationship between Connecticut College and the New London community. As the Community Service Coordinator, she recruits and works with a growing number of community partners in order to provide valuable community learning opportunities to CC students, faculty, and staff.

A native of Niantic, CT, Rebecca grew up in the area and stresses the importance of the role that community service plays in both the college and local communities. “[Service] experiences enhance classroom learning by giving students the opportunity to gain new and important skills while simultaneously opening up a larger community to them.”

Rebecca goes on to note that in the spirit of reciprocity, the community also benefits from volunteerism. By giving their time, talents, and hard work, volunteers forge deeper college-community connections, and help to increase the capacity of community partner organizations.

Rebecca graduated from Providence College with a B.A. in Public and Community Service Studies and came to OVCS in order to pursue her interest in community learning and service in higher education. She is currently working on an MS/Certification in Elementary Education.
