FAQ - Medical Leave
Q: Under what conditions does a student take a medical leave?
Students who have a physical or emotional condition that interferes with their ability to complete their academic work may be eligible for a voluntary medical leave of absence. This leave must be approved by the director of health services or the director of counseling services, as appropriate, in collaboration with the student's academic dean. If you believe that a medical leave would be in order for you, speak with your dean. Here is the Voluntary Medical Leave policy.
The Dean of Student Life and the Academic Dean may place a student on a Mandatory Medical Leave of Absence, without the student's agreement or consent. Here is the Mandatory Medical Leave of Absence policy.

Q: May I take courses while I am on a medical leave?
Yes, you will be allowed to take courses while your are away on leave, but you should consult with your adviser and your dean to be certain that the courses you take will be transferable back to Connecticut College. Q: How does one return from a medical leave?
When you are ready to return from a medical leave, you should let your dean know about your intent in a timely way. Your health care provider will have to communicate with the director of health services or the director of counseling services, as appropriate. You will not be allowed to return until the appropriate director approves your readmission.
