COOP

Connecticut College Outdoor Orientation Program

COOP

COOP is an optional four-day outdoor adventure program for freshmen that takes place a few days before Arrival Day. In past years, about 25 percent of the incoming class participated in COOP, so it’s a great way to get to know other first-year students before the official Orientation.

If registered for COOP, here's a list of what to bring.

Here's the COOP medical form (pdf).

Each group consists of 10-12 first-year students, headed by two Great Hollow Wilderness staff leaders and one Connlink, an upperclass student selected to serve as a link between you and the College. (See this year's group pictured below.) They will engage you mentally, emotionally and physically — but you don’t need to be an athlete or have previous wilderness experience to participate. Outdoor skills are taught as part of the program, and any equipment you don’t have will be provided.

2009 Connlinks!  Sitting:  Nicole Moomjy, Grace Gunderson. Standing:  Eric LeFlore, Ariana Keplinger, Leah Varga, Sam Herndon, Annie Bigwood. Missing:  Annie Brown, T.J. Gaffney

If you participate in COOP, you’ll arrive on campus early to sign in and pick up your room key. You can leave items you aren’t taking to COOP in your room. You’ll return to campus between 8-9 a.m. Saturday, leaving you enough time to set up your room and meet your roommates before Arrival Day activities begin.

If you have any questions, please contact Jill Blodgett at jeblo@conncoll.edu, or call 860-439-2050.
