Dean of Studies
The Office of the Dean of Studies is part of the Dean of the College Community division and oversees the academic aspects of the lives of Connecticut College students. The Dean of Studies team helps to ensure that as a student, your intellectual, residential, social, and spiritual needs are met and that you live a fully integrated life while at Connecticut College.
We work closely with the Dean of Student Life and other members of the student life staff, and with the Dean of Multicultural Affairs and the Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life. Our staff includes:
- Dean of Studies
- Associate Dean of Studies for Freshmen and Sophomores
- Associate Dean of Studies for Juniors and Seniors
- Associate Dean of Studies for Fellowships and Scholarships and Director of CELS
- International Student Adviser
- Director of the Writing Center
- Director of Disability Services
We oversee:
- Freshman Orientation and the transition of first-year and transfer students into the college
- Freshman Seminars (in conjunction with the Office of the Dean of the Faculty)
- Academic Advising
- Fellowships and Scholarships
- CONNSHARP (Connecticut College Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts Research Stipend)
- CELS, Career Enhancing Life Skills
- Disability services, including academic accommodations because of a disability
- Other aspects of student academic life
- International Student Orientation and Homeland Security Registration
