REMEMBERING SAKIA GUNN ON MATTHEW SHEPHARD DAY, Tuesday October 14th 4:30pm @ Chu Room
James Credle, Retired Dean of Students at Rutgers University, Newark will talk about the 2003 tragic murder of 15 year old African-American lesbian Sakia Gunn of Newark, New Jersey and the public indifference to violence against LGBTQ people of color. Mr. Credle currently serves as Executive Director of the Newark Pride Alliance, a community organization geared toward creating an LGBTIQQTS Community Services Center. In nearly 30 years of organizing, Mr. Credle served as Co-Chair for Men of All Colors Together, New York, Co-Chair of The National Association of Black and White Men Together, and co-founder of Project "FIRE" - an HIV/AIDS education and prevention program in Newark. He has also been an active member of the Vietnam Veterans Movement and helped establish numerous organizations and services targeting Vietnam and Vietnam Era Veterans. Sponsored by LGBTQ Resource Center, Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethniciy, and the Theatre Departrment.

Spectrum organizes this annual vigil to commemorate the life of Matthew Shephard and raise awareness about violence aimed at LGBTQ people.

Student led production of Laramie project, which documents the horrific murder of openly gay man Matthew Shephard. Sponsored by Theatre Department, CCSRE, LGBTQ Center. All welcome!

TRANS TEA, Tuesday October 28th 4:30pm @ Blaustein
TransTea this year is going to be dedicated to discussing bringing gender neutral housing to campus.  On that note, CGIA will  bring students from campuses which have implemented gender neutral housing to talk about their experiences.  For more information, contact Seth Wallace at swallace@conncoll.edu
