Spectrum: Gender & Sexuality Alliance
Spectrum works toward ending homophobia through education and advocacy. We are dedicated to raising awareness about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, changing discriminatory policies and attitudes, and providing support for our members. Everyone is welcome! Spectrum meets Wednesdays at 10:00pm.
Spectrum Student Leaders Include:
Ann Daly is a freshman from Massachusetts, and the freshman representative for Spectrum. She was involved in a GSA in high school and decided to join Spectrum when she came to Conn. She enjoys ice hockey and coffee heath bar crunch ice cream, although not at the same time.
Zoe Diaz-Martin is a freshman at Connecticut and is originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Other than Spectrum she is involved in club soccer, the equestrian team, CC ballroom dancing club, and tutoring in New London. She is currenlty undecided in her major but is very interested in environmental studies, Spanish, and French. She enjoys post-it notes, trees, national geographic documentaries, coffee drinks, and many other miscellaneous things.
Larson Hogstorm is Co-Chair for Spectrum and is also a senior studying Biochemistry Cellular and Molecular Biology. He has been involved in Spectrum since his freshman year and as the Political Chair has represented Spectrum on the Cultural Diversity Committee. He enjoys high fives, mythical stories about pre-historic beasts and vegetarian food.
Alexandra Leith '11 is from Dedham, MA, and is the Secretary of Spectrum. She is an English major who also enjoys photography, music, and spending way too much time on the internet.
Kat Meyers '09 is from North Stonington, CT and double majors in Religious Studies and History. Kat is active in SAC, Spectrum, CQ2, Peer Educators, and CCET. Her favorite quote is by Ani Difranco: "I aint no damsel in distress, I don't need to be rescued."
Chad Stewart '11 is co-chair of Spectrum and a coordinator at the LGBTQ Resource Center. He is considering majoring in Economics and Government. His interests include politics, traveling, Indian food, human rights issues, and running.
Ruthie Thier is a Freshman from Williamstown, Massachusetts. She is the current Political Chair for Spectrum and is excited to remain involved in her coming years at Conn. She enjoys playing tennis, eating her roommates stale food, temporary tattoos, and Pad Thai.
Erin Wilson ’11 is from Longmeadow, MA. Erin is a History major, as well as a tentative Religious Studies minor and participant in the Museum Studies certificate program. She is the treasurer of Spectrum.
(CQ)2 Connecticut College Queer & Questioning
(CQ)2 aims to build a supportive community for LGBTQ students.
The group meets weekly to build social and community ties as well as to support each other in dealing with coming out and being out. (CQ)2 meets Mondays @ 9:30 pm. For more information, contact co-chairs Rachel Zelinsky or John Sherman

Rachel Zelinsky '10 is from New York, NY and majors in Environmental Science with a Theater minor. Rachel is active is Spectrum, R.E.C., and is co-facilitator of CQ2. Favorite quote: "If male homosexuals are called "gay," then female homosexuals should be called "ecstatic."
CGIA: Campaign for Gender Identity Awareness
CGIA hosts special events about issues of gender identity and the differences between men and women. Do you want to know about transgendered and intersexed people and civil rights movements? This group aims to tackle trans, intersex, and gender identity issues. For more information, contact Seth Wallace

Michael Marks is a 21 year old government and economics double major from Nashville. In his Junior year at Connecticut College, Michael represents Morrison house at the Student Government Association, sits on the SGA Finance Committee and acts as the treasurer for the Campaign for Gender Identity Awareness. He enjoys chocolaty sweets, good books, the color of emerald green and trashy comedies.
Annie Brown '10 is from Fairfax, VA and majors in Cognitive Neurolinguistics with a minor in Mathematics. She is active in theater, women’s rugby and dance. She is also vice-president of the Campaign for Gender Identity Awareness. Her Favorite quote is, “It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them.”
Seth Wallace '10 is a psychology major from Boston, MA. He is the president of the Campaign for Gender Identity Awareness and a coordinator for the LGBTQ Resource Center on campus. Seth loves sushi, gender neutral space, and works as a body piercer in Groton, CT.
