Programs

Workshop Series

Student coordinators are available to provide educational workshops and training programs to the campus community. Some workshop topics include "How to Be an Ally," "Transgender 101," and "Straight Privilege." Trained student leaders facilitate the presentations. We work with dorms, teams, student groups, classes, offices and departments. If you're interested, check out our informational brochure.

Queer Peer Mentor Program

The Queer Peer Mentor Program serves to introduce incoming lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning students to the community at Connecticut College through a series of social and educational events during the fall semester. Students can join the group upon arrival but are welcome to signal their advance interest by contacting Dr. Jen Manion, the Director of the LGBTQ Resource Center, at jmanion@conncoll.edu.

Queer Community Collaboration

With a grant from the Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy, we launched our community outreach project during the 2009-2010 school year. The project has three major components: supporting local queer youth and GSAs, participating in community gatherings, and creating a virtual community to promote regional activities and resources.

Queer Conn History Project

In spring 2010, the Center launched the Queer Conn History Project. Students conducted archival research and interviewed College alumni. This research culminated in the installation of a multi-media exhibit in the LGBTQ Center. Funding for the project was provided by alumnus Eric Kaplan '85. The project was profiled in a news article on the College website.

Thursday Teas

These weekly teas provide an informal opportunity for students, faculty and staff to relax, talk and meet each other. LGBTQ people, Allies and others who want to connect with the community are welcome.
