Student Groups
The LGBTQ Resource Center is host to and a backer of the College's two main student-run groups dealing with gender and sexuality. The groups work closely with the Center's direction in a joint mission to promote understanding and equality through education, mutual support and activism.
Spectrum: Gender & Sexuality Alliance
Spectrum works toward ending homophobia and transphobia through education and advocacy. We are dedicated to raising awareness about issues of sexual orientation and gender identity, changing discriminatory policies and attitudes and providing support for our members. Everyone is welcome in the group! Meghan Rossini '13 and Brittany Armstrong '13 are the co-chairs and meetings are Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.
CGIA: The Committee for Gender Identity Awareness
CGIA is an official sub-group of Spectrum, working on a mission to raise awareness about the issues of gender identity and transphobia. Projects include working with Residential Education and Living on the issue of gender-neutral housing, and working with the administration to ensure that all of the College's bathrooms are gender-neutral. Co-chairs of the committee are Brittany Armstrong '13 and Andrew Sowle '13, and meetings are Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.
(CQ)2: Connecticut College Queer & Questioning
(CQ)2 aims to build a supportive community for LGBTQ students. The group meets weekly to build social and community ties as well as to support each other in dealing with coming out and being out. Meetings are Mondays at 9:30 p.m.
