Roth Writing Center
The Roth Writing Center provides one-to-one peer tutoring to help student writers of all abilities during all stages of the writing process. This service is offered free of charge to students.
Located in Blaustein 214, the Center is open daily during the week when classes are in session and during exam periods. When necessary, you may arrange to meet with Writing Center consultants during other hours. Call the Writing Center at (860) 439-2173.
The Center also coordinates the Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) program, which emphasizes writing as an active way of learning across all disciplines, working with faculty on using writing effectively in courses.
The Writing Center also coordinates the following:
- Study Skills Workshops: Periodically throughout the year, the Writing Center offers workshops including time management, study skills, note taking, writing effective exams, test anxiety, research papers, and other strategies for effective learning. Look in the Daily CONNtact for announcements of the exact dates or call the Writing Center at x2173.
- Centralized Academic Tutoring Services (CATS): Individualized tutoring is available for students needing additional help in a variety of subject areas, including the languages, natural sciences, and mathematics. There may be a small fee for CATS tutoring, but funds are available for qualifying students. Students requiring CATS should contact the Writing Center by MIDTERM of the semester when services are requested. See your dean or call Joyce McDaniel at the Writing Center at (860) 439-5324 for more information.
