Cars on campus

And other ways to get around

Cars

Because of parking constraints and in keeping with our environmental initiatives, we ask first-year students to refrain from bringing cars to campus if possible. Students must register cars with the Campus Safety Office, located in Nichols House in the northwest corner of the South Parking Lot. There is a fee, and freshmen who do bring cars are restricted to parking in the Athletic Center lot. Students who do not obey campus parking and traffic regulations are subject to fines, may lose their campus driving and parking privileges, and may have their vehicles "booted" or towed at their own expense. See the Campus Safety Motor Vehicle Registration and Parking Rules for full details.

CamelVan

CamelVan, a free student-run shuttle service, also provides transportation to retail and entertainment venues in the greater New London area as well as to the transportation center downtown. The van operates throughout the academic year.

Bus Service

If students need to travel off campus, there is a public service bus, SEAT (http://www.seatbus.com/), as well as several taxi services.

Bicycles

Bike racks are located in many areas on campus. Students should bring adequate locking devices for their bicycles. Members of the community are encouraged to register their bicycles at no cost. The serial number and pertinent data are recorded on the registration form and kept on file at the Campus Safety Office. Motorbikes are not permitted in the residence houses.

Spokespeople, a student-run collective, repairs and leases bicycles. For more information, go to http://twosixseven.com/spokespeople.
