Parents Council

Members of the Parents Council, a vibrant and growing group, are unique Connecticut College ambassadors.

They welcome the parents of new students to the College, host regional receptions, help at College events and serve as a sounding board for the College on parent-related issues. Members of the Council also talk with other parents about supporting Connecticut College and serve as consultants to the annual giving staff. Annual gifts made by parents go to the Parents Fund, part of the College's Annual Fund.

The Parents Council usually meets once a semester on campus, but you don't need to live nearby to be a member. The meetings include briefings by senior administrators, presentations on special topics and plenty of time for socializing, networking and sharing experiences as parents of college-age students.

The College's outreach to parents also includes a monthly, electronic Parents Newsletter produced by the Office of College Relations. If you're not getting the newsletter, it's probably because we don't have your e-mail address. Send a note with your name and the name of your student to parents@conncoll.edu to be added to the mailing list.

For more information about the Parents Council, contact Valerie Smith, Associate Director of Annual Giving/Parent Programs, by e-mail at vsmith1@conncoll.edu or at 1-800-888-7549.
