Physics, Astronomy, Geophysics

Several impressive research laboratories are housed in Connecticut College's department of physics, astronomy and geophysics. You can work with faculty members on exciting research projects. Our students often publish as co-authors.

We have the state's largest recirculating flume, used to replicate flow in natural rivers. Much of our research equipment is designed and fabricated right here at the College, giving you unique and boundless opportunities to design, construct and test different systems.

To better understand Planet Earth, you can select geology courses in hydrology, geomorphology, plate tectonics, geologic hazards and geographic information systems (GIS).

You can go the distance and take astronomy and astrophysics courses such as cosmology and observational techniques, solar system/planetary astronomy and astrobiology.
