Interviews
Interviews are not required but are highly recommended as part of the Connecticut College application process. Our interviewers see the conversation as a time to exchange information with you and personalize what can often seem an impersonal process. The interview is informational as well as evaluative for both the applicant and the interviewer.
We will offer on-campus interviews for the high school class of 2012 beginning in June of 2011.
High school seniors may conveniently schedule an on-campus interview online. Both Admission counselors and Admission Fellows conduct interviews and evaluate candidates. However, as most counselors will be scattered across the globe throughout the fall, visiting your school and others in order to better learn about the background of our applicants, the majority of on-campus interviews will be conducted by the Admission Fellows.
Admission Fellows are current seniors who know the ins-and-outs of the Connecticut College academic experience and community best. Before you come, read this list of helpful interview tips created by our Admission Fellows.
Though we highly encourage all prospective high school seniors to come in person to visit our gorgeous campus for an interview, due to the high volume of students wishing to interview as well as other obstacles such as distance and the typically hectic lifestyles of high school seniors, it is unfortunately impossible to meet the scheduling needs of every student. Do not despair - again, the interview is not an application requirement.
If desired, prospective students also have other opportunities to interview either with a Connecticut College Admission Counselor during their fall travels or with an Alumni Interviewer.
Alumni interviews will be made available to the high school class of 2012 as an alternative to the on-campus interview starting in September of 2011. Alumni interviews can be scheduled by contacting our office directly beginning in early fall of a student's senior year. We try our best to accommodate all requests, but alumni availability is limited in some areas of the country and the world.
If you are obliged to cancel an interview already scheduled, you may do so online. Please be aware that if you are seeking to cancel within 24 hours of your planned interview, you must contact the Office of Admission directly by calling us at 860-439-2200.
We love meeting prospective students and getting to know you as best as possible, but do know that you may only interview once. This means that, for example, if you interview with a counselor while they are on the road, you cannot have a second interview on campus with a Senior Admission Fellow when you come up to visit campus again the following month.
