Student Leadership
You rule! Becoming a leader is easy here. The campus culture encourages you to volunteer and get involved.
Connecticut College's commitment to shared governance offers many ways for you to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills. Everyone has a voice.
Get active with the Student Government Association, and join those students who serve on virtually all standing committees at the College.
No matter what your interest, there's a good chance you'll find it among the 60 active clubs and club sports on campus. If not, you can apply for funding to start your own group. Either way, it's up to you if you want to take on a leadership role.
Some other leadership opportunities:
Lead in the classroom, on the court and on the field
One third of our students are varsity scholar-athletes who excel in the classroom as well as on the playing field, and many others participate in intramural and club sports.
Lead in the residence halls
Housefellows and House Councils play an important role in overseeing the smooth operation of residence halls. House Environmental Representatives monitor and promote sustainability and recycling in their own living spaces and across campus.
Lead and lend a hand
The College has been cited for its leadership in creating service-learning opportunities. One-third of Connecticut College students, and many faculty and staff, perform community service, individually and collectively, by tutoring, creating and running programs at area schools, and volunteering in human service, legal, arts and healthcare settings.
