Favorite activity or place in Southeastern Connecticut:
I first came to the area in 1978 to pursue maritime studies at Mystic Seaport. Having the country’s premier maritime museum in our backyard is an amazing resource for students at Conn.
Favorite campus location:
Horizon House – since I’m based on the West Coast, Horizon House [the admission building] is home when I’m on campus. It’s where I get to interact with wonderful colleagues and amazing students.
Advice for applicants:
You’re going to get a lot of advice during this process from a lot of “experts,” including your teachers, your counselors, your parents and even your friends. Make sure that when it comes time to filter all this information, you listen mainly to yourself. No one knows you better than you do, and this process is ultimately one of self-discovery.
Fun fact about me:
My past jobs have included: bartender, short-order cook, cowboy, tennis pro and seaweed harvester. All have been great preparation for college admission work.
