Dear Members of the Campus Community,

I am writing to let you know that Rodmon King informed me today of his intention to resign from his role as dean of institutional equity and inclusion, effective immediately. I was saddened and shocked to receive this news. Rodmon was a valued colleague and thoughtful contributor to the senior leadership of the College. He oversaw work over the past 12 months to expand Conn’s DIEI staff, hiring a number of excellent colleagues, and supporting campus partners in advancing the work of equity, inclusion, and full participation.

I want to be clear that both I and the Conn community remain steadfast in our commitment to the ongoing and vital work of diversity, equity, and inclusion on this campus. It is central to our mission and values as an institution. We are now taking steps to identify interim leadership to support the division in the coming weeks, while a search for a new dean is underway.

For those who may need help in processing this news, I want to remind you that Student Support Specialists can be reached at 860-439-2412 or by calling Campus Safety at 860-439-2222. Vice President for Human Resources Reginald White (860-439-2085) and the College Ombudsperson Amy Sereday (860-439-2040) are available to meet with faculty and staff.

Over the next few days, I am also holding open hours for anyone who would like to discuss this matter with me either individually or in small groups. Lauren Middleton will be following up in a separate email with a link to available times.

Yours,

Katherine
